Once your done unloading your boxes, checking your inventory, and unpacking your things and redesigning your new home, the next part of the move is adjusting to your new home. One of the most important things to do beforehand would be to research first about the place. There will be community websites and basic information readily available on the internet. Second, try establishing relationships with your neighbors and other people in the community. You can go door to door with some goodies just to tell them that you've moved in next door or across the street or corridor. You can also join hobby groups and other social organizations you are interested in. Through these connections, you'll become more familiar with the community and will get insider knowledge like where the best grocery or butcher shop is, which school is the best for your children. Speaking of kids, try giving them a tour of the whole community so that they will have a better feel of it and become used to the new environment. It's also important that you listen to any concerns they have so you can address them properly. Getting them involved in school activities will also increase their aptitude for adjusting quickly to the new environment.
