It is very common to have damaged or lost goods at the time of moving due to various causes. To claim insurance for damaged or insurance goods, it is essential to take certain measures before and after the moving.
* Get all valuable items appraised by the movers.
* To serve as a proof that the items are in perfect condition, take photographs or video recording of the items before loading them into the truck.
* Purchase insurance from the movers. It is good to take an insurance option that provides full value protection for the items i.e. full cost of the damaged items will be reimbursed in case of damage or loss.
* Get the inventory list signed by the mover.
* At the time of unloading the truck, check each and every item as they are unloaded and keep the damaged items aside.
* Do not throw the damaged items. Take photographs and preserve the items as proof.
* Submit a claim form to the moving company, stating the extent of damage and a rough estimation of the cost of replacement or repair. It is essential to submit the claim form within a certain period of time limit, as stated by the moving company.
