Apartment owners guarantee a good reputation for their investment by ensuring peace and order to the neighborhood. This can be acquired by doing background checks to prospective tenants. So how do you get past the background check if you have a derogatory record? First, find someone known in the society to have good reputation such as an officer or a pastor. He will help you boost your personality by attesting that you have now reformed. Ask him to write a letter for you to attest this testimony. Supplement his recommendation by writing your own letter defending and explaining your side. Include in the letter the indications of your reform such as membership to community services and volunteerism. Make sure to win the approval of apartment managers. They are the persons assigned to take charge in doing the background check. Make sure that you convincingly present yourself so that the apartment manager can also sway the owner to grant you approval. Searching for an apartment with your criminal record can be daunting. But if you know how to start, the task is not impossible. Just be prepared to accept some denials but do not let this put your self esteem down. With proper motivation and determination, finding an appropriate apartment for you won't be long.
