If you have worries about your move, your preschooler has too. That is why you should be sensitive to his or her feelings and try to soothe her mind about the move. Don't show your own anxieties. Instead try to put a brave and happy face for your kid. Explain to him why you have to move and reassure him that everything will be fine.
Usually the best way to make them understand is through a language they know best. For instance, instead of seriously talking about it why don't you try to read him or her a story about moving. From there try to elaborate what the story means and how it applies to your move. Encourage your child to open up and to ask questions. It's the only way that his anxieties can be answered and somehow soothed.
You should also tell him about the new place you are going to and focus on the things he will be interested in and excited about. If he likes swimming, you could tell him about the pool right in the condominium complex. To lift up his spirits you could also get him something he has wanted to have for a long time. Let him keep his favorite toy by his side always so he can be comforted.
When you get to your new home, it's important that you get back to routine as soon as possible. Set up his bedroom right away so he can be in familiar surroundings. Continue doing the things you usually did back in your old home. This will also help him get settled sooner too.
