The mere thought of the moving process can bring intense feelings of anxiety and pressure, regardless if you have been expecting it for quite awhile. The fear and worry will always be there. Whether you are moving yourself or hiring a moving company, stress levels can be alleviated and the whole process can be made simpler if you follow these useful tips.
Make plans
Give yourself three or four months to plan the moving process. This time should be enough to sort out the things you want to keep and get rid of. If you are planning to hold a yard sale, this is the best time to plan as well. It usually takes more than two or three weeks to dispose of all your unwanted items in a yard sale.
Schedule your move
The peak season for house moves is summer. Consider setting your moving day during winter or spring to avoid inflated moving rates. If you should move on a summer, be sure to make your bookings two months prior the moving date.
Pack by Room
Instead of packing similar items together, pack by room. This makes the unpacking process a lot easier and less time-consuming. Be sure to label your boxes according to the room it belongs to. Aim to finish the packing two weeks before moving day so you can inspect other important aspects of the move.
