Moving Tips for Single Mothers
Published on Monday, 28 December 2009

Moving Tips for Single MothersSingle mothers have an added responsibility when it comes to moving. They have to take care of their kids and also make sure that the moving is done in the most efficient manner possible.  Moving being a stressful exercise can be no less hectic for single mothers who have to adjust to a new place, a new lifestyle and a new neighbourhood.   Here are some smart tips to move safely and wisely for single mothers:   1. Safety of the new neighbourhood. Make sure you are moving to a neighbourhood that is peaceful, safe and has a good law and order system.   Check if there is enough lighting on the road or lane when you come home late at night from work.   2. Access to facilities and amenities. Make sure that your new home has easy access to the market, grocery store, schools, preschools, colleges, hospitals, clinics etc.   3. Get all the help you can from other people. Get hold of a good moving company to help you with the moving. You may also ask for support from your friends or family members. This becomes important when you have a small kid. You can at the most, hold your luggage in one hand, whilst you have to take care of the little one in the other. If you have kids who are old enough, you can delegate tasks.   4. Make your children ready for the move. With the absence of the dad, single mothers have to prepare their kids for the move. Some children do not appreciate leaving their school, friends and are saddened at the thought of going to a new place. You should let the children know about how the move is important for you as a family, and how the new place will be interesting and fun with new neighbours and new friends.   5. Inform other people about your new place. You will not only have to inform your friends and family about your new place, but also update the information with your bank, your credit card companies and your cell phone provider.
