Most people invest significant amounts of money in their furniture because these pieces are essential to creating a certain feel for every room that they are placed in. Some even have furniture that has been custom-designed just for them! Relocating this furniture can be risky because of the possibility of losing or damaging any of these pieces. However, here are some tips to help you insure that your furniture is delivered safe and sound to your new residence:
1. If your furniture is collapsible, then collapse it. Smaller portions are easier to pack, secure and transport than large portions.
2. Cover all the surfaces in bubble wrap, especially the outer surfaces.
3. Make sure that there are no moving parts that are free to move. You don't want the drawers of your closet flying out, for instance. Moving parts can lead to situations where there is a greater potential for your furniture to be damaged.
4. Take out any hard, sharp or heavy pieces from the furniture. This includes kitchenware, tools and any other items that may damage your furniture during the move. Placing towels and other soft items in the empty spaces in your furniture is also a good idea.
