Seven Packing Essentials When Moving Abroad
It's important to know what you have to pack before moving to a new home, especially when you're moving to a different country. It's almost impossible to go back and get important documents and items you left behind. Below are the seven most important things you have to bring with you when moving abroad.

1. Essential documents. Don't forget to pack birth certificates, school records, diplomas and proofs of residence and other important documents you might need in that country.

2. Favourite local food and condiments. Your favorite brand of catsup or your favorite spread, like Marmite, might not be available in the country you're moving to. Be sure to include these in your packing list--but don't forget that you cannot pack food that can spoil easily!

3. Guide books or translation manuals. These are important, especially if you're moving to a country that speaks a different language. Guidebooks contain maps that you can use to find schools, banks and other services you will need.

4. Voltage converters. Some of your appliances might not work in the country you are moving to because that country uses a different voltage. Pack with you a universal adapter for your favourite appliances like blow dryers or electric toothbrushes.

5. Vaccination or health certificates for pets. Fix all these documents weeks before moving day. You also have to remember to get an International Health Certificate for Pet Travel before you go.

6. Photo albums and mementos. These can remind you of home and can be a good security blanket, especially for kids, since they can become homesick a lot. Small toys, old pillows or blankets and photos can make moving to a new country a lot easier.

7.  Prescription medicine and prescriptions. Ask your doctor if he can give you a prescription for more medication before you travel abroad. The country you are moving to might not have the medicine you need, so it's good to stock up before you leave.

Don't leave any important items behind when you fly overseas to your new home. List down the seven things above to remind you what to bring before you move.
