When you are moving out, you should think about how you can effectively sell your house - meaning, sell it based on your price dictate. Prior to moving out to a new house, think about what is going to be left with the old house. And make sure that the old house is left with a look of highly maintained so that the next occupant will not think that the old house is just but a poor second choice.
When selling a house, it is best that you have it repainted. A house that is newly painted gives an air of freshness and newness even when it is a decade older. Choose a color that is neutral. People who buy houses have their own preferred colors. Beige or white are neutral colors. De-clutter the house. Remove all the unnecessary things in the old house. When possible, take with you all the trashes in the old house so that when someone looks into it, he would not have the impression that the house is a forest that is full of trashes. Give it a good deal. Do not overprice the house. Give your potential buyers the best deal. You can ask agents to work on selling the house for you. They surely can help.
Although selling a house will take some time before it becomes fruitful, getting your house prepared will give you better chances.
